So I got a chance to see the movie War Room with my church this past Sunday! Besides the acting skills, I would have to say overall it was a really great movie! The movie was about surrendering to God through prayer and letting God fight your battles. I don’t want to tell too much of the movie, but my favorite part was when the older lady asked the younger lady how her prayer life was. She was shocked anyone would ask her such a bold question when first meeting her. She said “it’s ok, I pray here and there.” The older lady said “would you say it’s hot or cold?” And the younger lady said “I wouldn’t say it’s hot or cold, somewhere in the middle.” Then the older lady went up to get them some coffee. After the older lady returns with the coffee, she hands the younger lady the coffee, and she immediately spits it out.  The younger lady said “you like your coffee room temperature?” The older lady says “no baby mine is hot!” She continued “no one likes lukewarm coffee, not even God!”

It was a question that woke me up! How is your prayer life? Is it hot or cold? How do you pray when no one is looking? Do you go to God first before going to people? Do you look at your prayer life as your personal weapon? I think the biggest key to this movie is knowing that some battles are meant to be fought with prayer. Often times we fight to change the situation, when the only thing we can change is ourselves. Even though at times it may be hard, our prayer to God is that we remain in Him, even when the situation doesn’t seem of Him.

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer bring peace, go to war in your prayers believing and trusting God will fix it.

Studies show that in today’s society 60% of Christian still struggle with pornography. Why is this a struggle for Christians? Do Christians believe that pornography is a sin? Maybe they do believe it’s a sin but it’s too hard to change, so we solidify it with the famous quote “God knows my heart.” We all have been there but I think as you grow in your walk with God you realize if God knows my heart he also knows who you desire to please the most. Jesus says in John 14:15 if you love me, you will obey my commands. When temptation is knocking at your door, who do you love? Yourself, or God? It’s like someone saying “I know cheating on my girlfriend is wrong but I still do it”, and then he follows the statement with “I love her though.” Would you believe that he really loves her?

The truth is that 61% of Christians believe sex before marriage is okay.   That’s more than half the population of Christianity. Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Though many may believe in the values of sex after marriage, practicing self-control and discipline is a separate battle of its own.  Speaking from personal experience I had the mindset of staying pure before marriage, I believed in purity but my actions showed something different. Relating to others with the same struggle, the question I asked myself is why it was so hard to follow my values and beliefs. Shouldn’t my actions easily follow what I believe?

Romans 7:21-22 21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me.

I think we all underestimate our mind. What we see are deposits of what we do.  Pornography is the core of our distorted view on; men and women, marriages, relationships, and sex. In today’s society everyone is expose to some sort of pornography, from social pornography such as movies, music videos and even billboards. These all create neurological pathways in our brain. In other words creating new beliefs in our mind towards men and women, marriages, relationships, and sex. Which eventually depletes our old beliefs in staying pure and accepting our new ones. Therefore creating our own bible and not sticking to Gods word.

Some may argue “the bible is old! We live in different society we don’t need to apply everything in the bible with today”. The society and culture may bee different from what we see in the Bible, but the principles and process for living are not. As we see in Romans 7, Paul describes the same troubles that we experience today. Biologically nothing has change so what we allow our minds to see, produces fruit of correlated actions. Therefore the more social porn we expose yourself to the more expectations we create towards our relationships, marriages, the use of sex and even our men and women. The role of a Christian is for us to be set apart as a holy. We are to look different to the world, and be okay with looking foolish to the world.

1 Corinthians 1:21 – The world with its wisdom was unable to recognize God in terms of his own wisdom. So God decided to use the nonsense of the Good News we speak to save those who believe.

What the world expects in its wisdom is contrary to Gods Word. Saving your first kiss till marriage is “nonsense” or “foolish” to the world. But the wisdom of this world is based on sexual expectation that gratifies self rather than God.

Social pornography has corrupted many modern day Christians of today. As one of those victims I chose to make Christianity not just a word but an identity that stands for something. We need to stop looking at the bible as a rule book and look at it as a training manual.

If you’re a Christian and still having sex open your bible and find out what the correct definition of a Christian is, then really ask yourself if you reflect that. This is not to judge but to challenge what you truly believe.
Take the pledge! #NoMarriageNoSex

No Marriage No Sex

Yes I saw the movie, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Over all I would have to say it was a good movie. I was inspired by the passion and the drive the members of the group had but most of all the purpose of their journey. The reason they had such a successful journey in their career is because they had a passion to see something change. Growing up in the hood the passion came from seeing something unfair. My question was why don’t Christians have that same passion?

Why are we speaking passionately on how it’s unfair to live for yourself and not for God despite all the things he has done for us? Why aren’t we speaking about how God changed us? Why can’t we have a Christian revolution to change what is wrong to right? Why don’t we speak up on what the media feed us, and their goals to make us desperate to where we believe anything they feed us, while doing anything they tell us. Or how about sex before marriage? How it’s been such a norm in the Christian culture, while still pointing the finger at same sex marriage

The movie Straight out of Compton is the reflection of us in the world. We see how the world treats us but we don’t do or say anything about it. We need to be reminded that we have a voice and the only way things will change is if we stand up for what was right and repent to the truth.

Sorry if some of you haven’t seen it but there’s a part in the movie that the cops threaten NWA to not perform a certain song. Additionally they received a letter from the FBI stating they can be arrested if performed the song again. I’m not saying I agree with what they said but I admire their heart and boldness to go after what they believe in. They weren’t afraid of man or their threats. How many of us Christians can be afraid of what others might think if we bring up Christ, or randomly talk to someone about God? NWA’s careers and lives were on the line but they still sung the song they believed.
No cop is going to arrest you!!! It’s time we get bold and not let the world change us but we change the world. Speak up, sing your song, and share your faith!

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion – Proverbs 28:1

What if you only had one month to live? How would you spend your time? How would you talk to people? What would your day consist of? How would you love others?

Many of us walk around sometime believing we are superman and that we will live forever but the reality is we will die. So why do we chase after the things of this world that will die with us? Some may be our outer possessions such as materialistic items, but most of the time it’s our inner comfort level that society calls security. Security obtained by the world, stays in the world. Meaning it has very temporary value. When chasing the pleasures of the world, or the securities of the world, it keeps you from attaining pass this world. For ALL that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. (1 John2:16). The idea of obtaining true security in the world is an imaginary reality. The injustices of this world proves the obscurity of placing our trust in what the world offers. The only security you can have, is in God.

If you only had one month to live there would be an authenticity that the world would see, with your actions having more intention and purpose. You would no longer be blinded by the distractions around you because suddenly they wouldn’t matter.

The greatest fear in life should not be failure but doing something that doesn’t matter. -Francis Chan
This quote really opened my eyes to life. To many times I find myself focused on what doesn’t matter. So many times we can focus on the cycle of life but never the end of the cycle. Creating a legacy is not just about what you do for yourself, but for the future generations after you. What impact are you leaving? Harold Kushner said “I am convinced that it is not the fear of death, or our lives ending, that haunts our sleep so much, it’s that as far as the world is concerned, we might as well never have lived.” It’s about the impact that you do. Impacting lives that changes the lifestyle of many. One thing I know is God is my lifestyle and He died for me to be comfortable in eternity. He is what matters, and offers the security that no one can take away. Devote every MINUTE in changing someone’s life. Keep in mind if you have one month to live, what would be your attitude.

What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

In today’s society we have a false sense of reality, which can make us not identify what true beauty is. When you look up the category “beauty” you will find makeup and things alike that will give you the false imagery that the world seeks. However God counts you beautiful in a different way. For the Lord sees not man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) My hope is that by reading this article you will understand the true meaning of beauty and that you will be able to see yourself for who you really are.

The definition of beautiful is pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically, or of a very high standard, excellent. So the first point is:

  1.   1. Beauty is based on what pleases the mind. Not the eyes.

Scientifically your mind releases the hormones to tell you what you enjoy and what you don’t enjoy. Your eyes can do the same thing however it can also be deceiving, like make up. When something pleases your mind it creates character for the opposite person. Your mind has the power to reinforce you to do something again, as well as change the view of character towards the opposite person. The reinforcement to do something for yourself, and the trust that has been gained for another person all comes from pleasing your mind aesthetically. When you view beauty from the eyes, it may please the mind temporarily but has the possibility of a disappointment if you found out it was artificial.

  1.    2. Beauty has a standard of high quality, and excellence. Not typical, normal, or mediocre.

You were made with excellence and with a standard of high quality, and I expect you to be treated and to act as such. Unfortunately we live in an envious world. We want what other people have rather than focusing on the gifts we have for ourselves. There are 2 problems with this: No one has their standard of high quality because they are too busy trying to get someone else’s standard and/or everyone’s beauty has been devalued because what the world sees as beauty is really typical, normal, or mediocre. There is no sense of identity, or uniqueness among an individual because everybody wants to be like everybody else. Where is the beauty in that? How can a standard be measure against something else if they all look the same?

My prayer for you is to be different, BE YOU! Be the very person that God intended you to be before you were even born. You are of His workmanship, which means the degree of skills that He has placed inside you is something that you can’t imagine. God created you to do good things, extraordinary things, things that you can only do by remaining in Him. Have you ever noticed the attraction when someone is walking in their calling? This can be in profession or just in characteristics. Either way it’s you walking in the being that God has called you to walk in. Men are attracted to confident women who have their own identity in Christ that can compliment or enhance a man’s walk with Christ. Women are attracted to the confidence and/or faith a man carries from Christ, because they now can BOTH operate in God’s protection in any circumstance.

Be you to the full is a message that lets you know, that you as an individual are beautiful not because the world says so, but because of the individualism that God has placed inside you. My hope is that you no longer look at yourself in the lens of the world, but that that you transform your mind to not the things of this world. If you don’t know who you are yet, and the beauty you identify with is what the eyes can see, read more about Jesus. God created us in His image (Genesis 1:27), therefore Jesus character, view, power is a great start to understand the high quality that we have been made in. God wants to use your personality to accomplish His good will, I hope that you allow Him to use you fully. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are – Romans 8:19.

The Life of the White Flag

What is the white flag life? It’s surrendering. Surrendering is a never ending story. I feel like in my life right now I have no choice but to surrender. I ask myself, “Why does it take me to have no other choice to surrender, in order for me to surrender?” Why is surrendering looked at as bad? Surrendering takes you out of the driver seat, and into but the back seat. Most people think they would be in the passenger seat, but I say the back seat because in some cases you have even less control then when in the passenger seat. The passenger can see more of oncoming traffic and even the driver’s blind spot. To be in full surrender you must be okay with  not seeing the outcome of the situation.

As humans this concept drives us crazy!! But why does it drive us crazy? Well the answer is we lie in the realm of unbelief! We don’tbelieve the outcome will be okay…Why do we not believe? We don’t believe because it is not in our hands.

The main ingredient in surrendering is humility. You can’t surrender without living in the realm of humility. Humility is living your life in the idea of complete understanding, and putting someone else’s wants before your own. In the character of humility, we have an understanding that we are here to learn. If we understand this concept the idea of surrendering becomes much easier. You start to look at your life as a learning process rather than a controlled crisis. Think about it, if your life was completely controlled by you, how would you ever learn, how would you gain new information? You wouldn’t,because everything you would do would go based on your own knowledge (The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice – Proverbs 12:15). We have to embrace surrendering on a daily bases in order to grow.

In order to understand the process we also have to identify with what’s coming from the enemy. If the opposite of surrendering is control then what is the main ingredient of control?  I believe it is our pride. Pride creates this unreal idea that we have to be in control. Where does this unreal idea come from? The world! We create all these standards that create unreal status quo for humanity. For example, your status in living, if you don’t make a certain amount of money by a certain age, and then according to the world you are a failure. Or how about for women, if you’re not married at a certain age, you consider yourself not good enough. These are all made up ideas in our mind that stop us from embracing the full surrendering God is looking for. Pride creates a wall between you and God. Ask yourself what are you not willing to surrender to today? Are you willing to surrender to Gods process to learn more about yourself and God? Or are you submitting to your own process running into the same wall every time.

I’m writing this not to say I know it all or have all the right answers, but I have ran into that wall many times and I’m sure I will many more times, but I do except the challenge God gave us to surrender. I have learned that I am addicted to his challenges not because I like hard ship, but because I’m addicted to seeing God in my life. I desire to grow therefore I desire his discipline. I challenge you to have that same heart and see how God works in your life.

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life

Life With Out Fear

I believe fear can be looked at in one or two ways. We can look at it from either a negative or positive outlook. Imagine a world that had no fear, I think life would be so boring! If nothing can fear you then where would the excitement be in the accomplishment of enduring through it? More importantly if fear didn’t exist how would we strengthen our faith? Faith would be dead. The opposite of faith is fear. If we never had the feeling of fear then there would be no need for faith. All faith would be faith in our self-knowing, depending on ourselves rather than God. Faith is believing in what is not seen, therefore you have a choice in what you choose to believe; something that you see which can sometimes cause fear, or trust what you believe regardless of what you see and move towards it.

I think we should look at fear as a positive challenge. Overcoming fear with faith molds our character, makes you into the better person you are and most of all you GROW. I mean look at the many people that allowed fear to control them. If you see them now and five years later see them again in the same situation, guarantee they are the same person in prison by fear. It’s because they look at fear as a negative element in their life and for some reason they can’t get over it.

Fear can no longer be real once you experience it. Think of the last time you were fearful and you experience it, which fear no longer controlled you because the imagination of that real no longer existed. Sometimes we need to create a new experience of our perception of an event and overcoming your fear allows you to do that. I remember when I was 12 I feared this huge slide at this water park, all my cousins laughed at me because I was too scared to go on it until one year I told myself I’m going! I went and I couldn’t even push myself to go lol I had the instructor push me lol ( I was A Chicken) but maaaan did I love that ride! It ended up being my favorite ride to go on. I was going backwards and all this stuff, fear left me and I was no longer controlled by it.

What fears do you have that may be controlling you to let God work in your life. Maybe you have been praying for a certain blessing and God is asking you to go half way, display your faith that overcomes fears and watch how God moves in your life! Life is a journey experienced through the good the bad and the ugly so you can live, love and conquer.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4

Do you know what a mirror neurons is? A mirror neuron is a neuron that fires both when an animal acts and when the animal observes the same action performed by another. Thus, the neuron “mirrors” the behavior of the other, as though the observer were itself acting. Such neurons have been directly observed in primate species.[4] Birds have been shown to have imitative resonance behaviors and neurological evidence suggests the presence of some form of mirroring system.[4][5] In humans, brain activity consistent with that of mirror neurons has been found in the premotor cortex, the supplementary motor area, the primary somatosensory cortex and the inferior parietal cortex.

That being said we are programmed to become what we see. Do you ever ask yourself how do babies walk and start to talk? No one is really able to speak to them to teach them how to walk and talk. These neurons are firing off forcing the baby to act out what she or he sees. As adult we still has these neurons in our brain therefore we have to be careful not only to make sure what we watch helps us but also make sure how we act will influence others in a positive way. As much as you want to say that what you watch and listen to don’t effect you…Sorry but it does its a scientific fact if you watch it enough you will become it. Hints the reason business owners say have a mentor and surround yourself with people that are successful because its not only science its God. God created us this way because he wants us unified. We were originally made to imitate him but thanks to EVE lol we received free will, still made to imitate but imitating the wrong people.

The industry is no joke because you’re surrounded by the wrong people and before you know it all your morals are thrown out the window and you look just like them. So if you are in the industry please keep yourself around God fearing people that you can imitate if not I dont care how strong you think you are eventually you will become them. And Lastly make sure you feed our kids positive thing to imitate Keep them pure. The bible says we should all be like children, because God creates all of us pure but the world programs us to be the exact opposite. I believe we can save Miley and many others if we save the industry.
